No Comments on operating system for the XAMPP

This task was a bit more troublesom than initially thought. I was having a lot of trouble with the XAMPP server on the debian distro i started off with. After a lot of tinkering i finally decided to toss the debian install in the paperbin.

Next up as the choice of operating system for the XAMPP server was a LMDE version of Linux mint. After the installation, I downloaded xampp, installed it and started it up. Everything worked fine exepct 1 error about security, this seem to be a problem with XAMPP 1.8.1. I had to edit a line in httpd.conf to allow my machine to access the XAMPP control panel.

After that i changed the password for the SQL database and was good to go. This is how the network looked when it was done as of writing :

The router in the picture is a virtual OpenWRT router connected with a bridge on the WAN port and a internal network on the “internal” NIC. The router handels DHCP and everything else on the network. The upper computer is a XAMPP linux mint machine and the lowest computer is a windows XP machine that will function as the “victum”

Will post more when I got more to show.
